Solis 40 kW S5 3-Phase Quad MPPT – DC Inverter

Overview
The Solis 40 kW S5 series three-phase grid-tie inverter offers high-performance, flexibility and reliability for larger commercial or three-phase‐residential solar installations. With four independent MPPT inputs, a broad DC input voltage range and robust IP66 rated outdoor enclosure, it’s crafted for sites with multiple string orientations or complex DC layouts, delivering efficient and safe power conversion.

Key Features & Specifications

  • Rated AC output: 40 kW (with short‐term output up to ~44 kW)

  • Four (4) MPPT channels (Quad MPPT) for enhanced string design flexibility and reduced mismatch losses.

  • Maximum DC input power of up to ~60 kW in certain listings.

  • High conversion efficiency: Up to ~98.7% maximum efficiency.

  • Wide DC input voltage range: Ultra‐low start-up voltage ~180 V; MPPT voltage range ~200-1,000 V; maximum input up to ~1,100 V.

  • String current/input capability: For example 32 A input per MPPT, 16 A per PV string in some listings.

  • Built-in protection & safety features:

    • Integrated AFCI (DC arc-fault protection)

    • Type II surge protection on DC and AC sides

    • DC reverse polarity protection

  • Outdoor rated housing: IP66 (some sources IP65) for harsh environment durability.

  • Monitoring & smart features: String monitoring, Smart I-V curve diagnosis, remote via SolisCloud.

  • Warranty & Certifications: Standard 5-year warranty (many markets offer extension to 10- or 20-years)  Certified for South African grid standard

Applications & Benefits

  • Applications: Ideal for commercial rooftop systems, three-phase industrial / commercial sites, or large residential estates using three‐phase supply and complex string arrays.

  • Benefits:

    • Quad MPPT design allows you to split the PV array into up to four independent groups which can have different orientations, tilts or shading scenarios — improving energy yield and reducing mismatch losses.

    • High efficiency means more of your DC generation is converted to AC output, improving return-on-investment.

    • Wide DC voltage range and high maximum input voltage allow longer strings, modern high-voltage modules and possibly lower BOS (balance of system) cost.

    • Robust outdoor design (IP66) ensures durability in tough environments (sun, rain, dust) and helps protect your investment.

    • Smart monitoring and protection features help with system health, fault detection and long-term reliability — useful for commercial installations where downtime or maintenance costs are significant.
